Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke
His Eminence Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura and Archbishop Emeritus of St. Louis. Archbishop Burke initiated the cause of Fr. John A. Hardon in St. Louis in 2005 while archbishop of the diocese. He was ordained priest in 1975, ordained bishop in 1995 and, in the same year, was installed as Bishop of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was installed as Archbishop of St. Louis, Missouri in 2004, where he served until 2008. On June 27 of 2008, Archbishop Burke was appointed Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura at the Vatican. In August of 2009, he graciously consented that the cause of beatification and canonization could continue in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.
Archbishop Robert J. Carlson
On April 21, 2009, it was announced that the Most Rev. Robert J. Carlson was appointed by the Holy See as the successor to Archbishop Raymond L. Burke as the Archbishop of Saint Louis, Missouri. Prior to his appointment to the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, Bishop Robert J. Carlson was installed as the fifth bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw on February 24, 2005 at the direction of Pope John Paul II. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., he was ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 1970 for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He was later ordained as an auxiliary bishop for his home archdiocese on January 11, 1984 and went on to serve as Bishop of Sioux Falls, S.D., from 1994 to 2005.
Postulator: Rev. Robert Thomas McDermott
Rev. Robert T. McDermott is the Postulator to the cause. Fr. McDermott began working on the cause in 2008. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. As a graduate student of Catholic Doctrine at St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York, Fr. McDermott studied under the direct supervision of Fr. John A. Hardon. Fr. McDermott studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee and St. John’s University in New York.

Executive Director: Mr. Derrick A. Flannigan
Mr. Derrick A. Flannigan is the new Executive Director for the Fr. John A. Hardon Archive and Guild. A native of St. Louis, Mr. Flannigan attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of St. Louis from 2002 to 2008. In May 2006, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy & Letters from Saint Louis University and Cardinal Glennon College Seminary. Before assisting the cause, Mr. Flannigan worked in secondary religious education for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Promoter of Justice: Rev. Kristian Teater
Rev. Kristian C. Teater is the Promotor of Justice for the cause. He is originally from Temple, Texas. Fr. Teater also serves as Assistant professor of Spiritual Theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis. He received his Baccalaureate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In addition, Fr. Teater holds a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University and is, at present, a Doctoral candidate at the Teresianum in Rome. He also completed a Studium at the Congregation of the Causes of Saints at the Vatican.
Episcopal Delegate: Monsignor C. Eugene Morris
Rev. Monsignor Carl Eugene Morris is the Episcopal Delegate for the cause. As Director of the Office of the Permanent Diaconate, Monsignor Morris oversees the training, development and ministry of all deacons and deacon candidates in the St. Louis Archdiocese. His duties draw on his own experience as a teacher. He has been engaged in Catholic education for more than 15 years. Under his leadership, the Archdiocese is training deacons annually to assist the Archbishop and priests in ministering to parishioners.
Expert and Notary: Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell
Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell is the Notary and Expert for the cause. Dr. Mitchell began working on the Fr. Hardon Cause in 2005. She laid the groundwork for the cause in St. Louis and, in the process, sought the counsel of other causes already underway (Fr. Michael McGiveney, Fr. Solanus Casey, Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Mother Teresa). Since then, she has travelled on behalf of the cause to Rome, Calcutta and St. Louis. Dr. Mitchell attended Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio and has a Doctorate in Social Communication from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
