The late Fr. John A. Hardon, son of a Midland steelworker, is on the path to sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church.
“”He was a remarkable, holy and learned priest,” said James Berry, executive director of the Father John Hardon Archive and Guild in St. Louis. “His humility and austere living, combined with his intellect and ability to communicate the church’s teachings so effectively, make him a good candidate.”
Hardon died in Clarkson, Mich., in 2000. He is considered “a servant of God,” the first step toward sainthood. Subsequent stages are venerable, blessed, then saint. Except in the case of martyrs, the latter two steps require a miracle through the individual’s intercession…
